From the website, www.unixodbc.org:
The UnixODBC Project goals are to develop and promote UnixODBC to be the definitive standard for ODBC on non MS Windows platforms. This is to include GUI support for both KDE and GNOME.
RedHat provide RPMs for (some of) the UnixODBC software, so I tried this first.
Files live in : /usr/lib, /usr/bin and /etc. Those of particular interest include:
/usr/bin/isql # -- test utility (or quick and very dirty ODBC/SQL # client) /etc/odbc.ini # -- system-wide Data-Source config /etc/odbcinst.ini # -- system-wide ODBC driver config ~<user>/.odbc.ini # -- user ODBC driver config
The RPMs came with none of the nice GUI stuff provided by UnixODBC; I tried the source, which did, later.
