Making ISO Image
- www.iwn.fi
- man page for mkisofs (man mkisofs, or possibly,
man 8 mkisofs);
- The Linux CD-Writing HOWTO:
initrd and linuxrc
- Paul Sheer's Rute User's Tutorial and Exposition, Page 322, gives a good
introduction to initrd, initial ramdisks.
- The shell script /sbin/mkinitrd is of interest but does not do
what we are after --- its for ensuring access to modules such as
SCSI drivers which may be needed at boot time but which are not available
within the kernel itself.
- /usr/src/linux-2.4/Documentation/initrd.txt:
read this carefully! -- also available on the Web.
- Google search of linuxrc and pivot_root;
- http://www.busybox.net/lists/busybox/2001-April/008375.html
- http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2001/debian-devel-200109/msg00307.html
- util-linux-2.11f-17 RPM for i386 (util-linux-2.10s-12 which comes
with RedHat 7.1) does not seem to include pivot_root);

SYSLINUX and ISOLINUX
syslinux is a simple Linux boot loader which can be used to make
a bootable Linux floppy:
Linux Care Boot Tool Box
The Linux Care Boot Tool Box is another CD-based/bootable Linux Distro:
