syntax error in /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit: bash does not like empty
if [ ]; then ... fi blocks; solution: comment out the whole if

get the three Maragda--<thing> scripts working --- each just
linked in to the rc?.d as normal start/stop/restart scripts currently;
this appears to be wrong...they each stall... on boot up requiring a
Ctrl-D... [DONE ---];
each startup script is run by rc.d/rc and is called by
action $"Starting $subsys: " $i start
so presumably the scripts own std output is not getting to screen...

"action" them;
need to get USR.FS mounted as /usr automatically;
[DONE];
edited linuxrc so that it recorded the device on which the CD is

way;
network IP address is hardwired in --- after mounting USR.FS as /usr
run netconfig to start... [FEATURE];
need to get xfs running automatically;
[DONE --- having /usr mounted all is well];
need to get different graphics cards configured [NYI];
need to understand PS2 mice --- use kudzu? --- its in /usr/sbin so need to

Summary of Things to Do and Investigate
use of framebuffer device instead of different XFree86.cfg?
Use minix instead of ext2 for initrd to save space? (means including
minix support in kernel, but may get a net saving?
[TRIED --- helps only a tiny bit, use ISOLINUX instead]
investigate using something other than a 1.44 to get a boot image for
mksiofs to make the cd --- use ISOLINUX;
