• no integrated development environment (IDE), e.g., Plato;
  
  
• no compiler-specific project support;
  
  
• most things should work with little or no modification on:
  • Linux
  • Solaris
  • Darwin/OS X (Mac)
  
  
• simple modification required for, e.g., Salford FTN90 on Win 32...
